In this post, I’ll explain the key-factor of long-term Instagram growth. If you want to attain true, lasting growth on Instagram, if you want to sell your services on Instagram or be able to work as an influencer, you have to get this right.

Shift your focus from yourself to your audience!

Seriously, stop the “me, me, me, me, me!” and think about your audience. Think about how you can help others, instead of asking yourself “How can I get them to do what I want them to do? How do I get them to do business with me?”

It’s all about serving, not about taking. Of course, if you serve, you’ll be able to take. You will be able to take a lot. But you need to serve first.

It’s a pretty fair trade. You give and you take – but you cannot expect to take first.

And the whole point is: You shouldn’t even want to take in the first place. Being of service in any way is one of the most fulfilling things for us humans. So find fulfillment in giving – and naturally – you will be able to take.


Alright. Let’s use a very weird, but good example!

Let’s talk about Cheese & Instagram Growth!

Imagine you own a little cheese shop. It’s really cute and you got some damn good cheese. However, right next to your shop, there are five other shops, just like yours.

Now, how can you make sure that people will come to you?

You could start to offer free samples and while you serve those, you could start speaking to the people testing your cheese. That way, the people wanting to buy cheese, will get some free cheese which will most likely result in them buying from you cause they know what they are getting and they will also have a personal connection with you cause they’ve spoken to you.

Also, they’ll be excited about the great experience they had with you that they’ll tell their neighbors and friends to buy from you as well.

Boom, a bunch of new clients for you! ?

You can apply the same principle on Instagram. In fact, you should use the same method on Instagram. You should use it on any social media platform actually.

Providing entertainment or showing vulnerability can be of service to others. Great product recommendations can be of service and so on.

Just find an appropriate way how you can give to your audience.

With every product or service, focus on how to solve another person’s problem or simply on how to make their life better. Don’t focus on making your life better.

In the end, your growth and the happiness of a potential client will go hand in hand. If people are excited about you, you’ll be the first person they think about when they want to make a purchase.

Focussing on serving your potential customer is your only real shot in being successful on Instagram long-term – unless you’re already famous for something, but then you’ve added value somewhere else already and built that trust.
